$10.9 Million Reston Penthouse Breaks Virginia Condo Sales Record

Reston, Virginia, just made luxury real estate history.

A full-floor penthouse at the JW Marriott Residences at Reston Station recently sold for $10.9 million, setting a new record for the most expensive condominium ever sold in Virginia.

The record-breaking transaction is another sign of how dramatically Reston and Northern Virginia as a whole continues to evolve.

A $10.9 Million Penthouse in Reston

Located on the 28th floor of the JW Marriott Residences at Reston Station, the penthouse occupies an entire floor and offers expansive 360-degree views across Northern Virginia, including views toward Tysons and the Blue Ridge Mountains.

The residence was reportedly customized with the buyer and combines private luxury living with the services and amenities associated with the JW Marriott brand.

But the $10.9 million price isn't the only remarkable part of the story.

Earlier in 2026, another penthouse in the same development sold for $10.25 million, which was Virginia's condo sales record at the time.

Just months later, Reston broke the record again.

Why Reston Is Attracting Luxury Buyers

For years, Reston has been known for its planned communities, trails, parks and proximity to major employment centers. But development around the Silver Line Metro is helping create a much more urban lifestyle.

Reston Station offers residents convenient access to the Wiehle-Reston East Metro station, while nearby Reston Town Center provides shopping, restaurants, entertainment and additional residential development.

The location also puts residents within easy reach of Tysons, Washington Dulles International Airport and Washington, D.C.

Projects such as the JW Marriott Residences demonstrate that Northern Virginia's luxury market is no longer concentrated primarily in places like McLean, Great Falls and Arlington.

What This Means for Reston Real Estate

A $10.9 million condo sale doesn't mean every Reston property suddenly becomes more valuable. However, record-setting transactions can help reshape how buyers perceive a market.

Reston is increasingly offering something that can be difficult to find elsewhere in Northern Virginia: high-end residential living combined with Metro access, restaurants, offices, entertainment and a walkable environment.

As more development occurs around Reston Station and the Silver Line corridor, the area could continue attracting buyers who want an urban lifestyle without living in Washington, D.C.

For homeowners, buyers and investors, that's a trend worth watching.
